Welcome to my studio on the Internet. I am an artist based in Copenhagen (Denmark) and Barcelona (Spain). I work in a range of visual arts, using techniques such as felt making, embroidery, mixed media, and printmaking. I am driven by the alchemy of discovery and experimentation with materials.

I take an investigative approach to surfaces and textures. My work is largely abstract, but I very often look to Nature, in the widest sense, for inspiration.

Visual art with a focus on textiles

I come from a crafts background, having spent more than 30 years as a maker of all sorts of things. Currently, I am under more formal education as a visual artist, specializing in textile art. It is a privilege to be studying at Open College of Arts in the UK, along with very talented students from all over the world.

About

About Inger Inanna Weidema

My main sources of inspiration are nature’s forms, textures and patterns, such as cellular structures, rock formations and seaweeds. Nature’s infinite complexity shape my visual vocabulary. Environmental concerns and my previous studies of biodiversity also inform my making.

After completing a Ph.D. degree in biology I have been working as a scientist and with nature conservation. However, the creative impulse was always there – I have been working with textiles for more than 25 years. Currently I am studying for a BA in textile art at the Open College of Arts, UK.
