These works on watercolour paper from 2026 are inspired by the Japanese technique of ink marbling on water (Suminagashi). I used black soot ink, floating it on the two different types of water I found during the artist residency Art 56° in Hvide Sande: water from the salty, wavy North Sea and water from the calmer, brackish Ringkøbing Fjord.
This small series celebrates the two bodies of water that define Hvide Sande, and its strong maritime culture, by putting them in the same frame. Hvide Sande is a small town in the middle of a dune landscape, centred around an artificial canal that connects Ringkøbing Fjord to the North Sea.
