For this commissioned piece (2024), I represent data streams that are chaotic and organic versus the order that my client establishes for their customers via databases and Life Cycle Assessment. The piece is sculpted from aluminium wires, covered in Abacá pulp that has been painted with water based inks (dimensions 140 x 70 cm).
I aimed to create an abstracted visual representation of their environmental assessment methodologies, incorporating small areas of embroidered knots rendered in vibrant, joyful colours. These embroidery elements serve as focal points where employees can rest their eyes while taking breaks from their computer screens. To me, the knots symbolize ‘data knots’ – representing the intricate and complex decisions that analysts navigate daily.
