The piece from 2024 is made from delicate wheat roots supported onto a sculpted wire frame. Both materials are blackened with a soot-based ink. Visually, the various holes and gaps give it a porous texture and an amorphous shape. To me, it resembles a seed or seed pod of sorts. This shape was chosen to suggest themes of nature, growth, and transformation. Close up, I hope the natural materials emphasise a natural complexity, while the craftsmanship reflects my respect and appreciation for plant life.
Seeds germinating
In exuberant growth, life
Circles to stillness
