Plant Memories

The networks are inspired by found marks on the skin of avocados, priced down because of these ‘scars’. To me the scars were like a symbolic language. It spoke of hidden events or perhaps a secret memory kept by the plants. In this piece I am interested in how we directly and indirectly depend on plants for nourishment and yet we are suffering from ‘plant blindness’. Plants are the reason why we can thrive.

Dimensions are variable as it consists of five units, but this digital version with computer generated shadows was shown in the Wånder Wide Web exhibit (open 30. June-30. Sept 2022 – now closed) on Kunstmatrix. This exhibit was curated by Annalisa Mercuri and Sonia Boing and supported by the Open College of Art, UK.
