Suspended from an integrated frame, ‘Under’ (2025) invites viewers to immerse themselves. My intention was to hint at the unseen life beneath our feet – the wondrous processes of the wood-wide-web of more-than-human organisms. I suspended windfallen branches painted with pigments and dyes, and on these I placed small porous nodules made from chicken wire covered in recycled encyclopaedia pulp. The physical material reaches towards viewers entering the installation.
For my degree show in 2025 at Galleri Møntergade 6, sonic immersion was an integral part of the experience. The sound recordings originated (with kind permission from the Biovision Foundation) from the project Sounding Soil – a collaboration between the foundation, scientists, and soil acousticians exploring life and activity in the soil through sound.
Welcome beneath the forest,
among the roots.
They (and we) are many,
